Description:
IBM has reported a vulnerability in AIX, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) on certain applications.

The vulnerability is caused due to the "getipnodebyname()" API not closing sockets, which can be exploited to crash applications using this API. IBM reports that Sendmail is the only application shipped with AIX using the API.

The vulnerability affects versions 5.1 and 5.2.
