Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in winShadow, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability is caused due to the server not being able to handle long usernames or passwords and can be exploited to crash the service.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 2.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Another issue was also reported in the client. A boundary error exists when handling the "hostname" parameter in session files (".osh"). If a person is able to manipulate another user's session files, it could be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by supplying an overly long, specially crafted hostname.

This may allow execution of arbitrary code with the other user's privileges when the user tries to use the session file.

Solution:
Update to version 2.0 (Release 1 Build 72) or later.
