Description: A vulnerability has been reported in GtkFtpd, which can be exploited by malicious users to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling input supplied to the "LIST" command. This can be exploited by creating a file or directory with an overly long, specially crafted name, which is then supplied to the "LIST" command.
Successful exploitation requires that the malicious person has access to a writeable directory.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.0.4 and prior.
Solution: Allow only trusted users to access the FTP server, or grant only write permissions to trusted users.
Filter long, malicious input in a FTP proxy.
Use another product.
