Description: A vulnerability has been identified in the wireless IDS system "widz", which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to missing validation of AP (Access Point) names in "apmon" before supplying them to the "system()" function. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary commands on a vulnerable system by setting up an AP with a specially crafted name.
Successful exploitation requires that the application is running in DEBUG mode.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.5. However, prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: Don't run applications on production systems in DEBUG mode. Use another product.
Provided and/or discovered by: KF, Secure Network Operations.
