Description:
A vulnerability has been identified in WU-FTPD, which can be exploited by malicious users to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an off-by-one error in the "fb_realpath()" function when calculating the length of a concatenated string. A logged in user with write privileges can exploit this via various commands to execute arbitrary code on the system with "root" privileges.

The vulnerability affects versions 2.5.0 through 2.6.2. However, it can only be exploited on systems running any 2.0.x kernel version or a later 2.4.x kernel version.

Solution:
Allow only trusted users to login or disallow write privileges for untrusted users.

Use another FTP server until an updated version or patch is released.
