Description: Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in ashnews, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks and compromise a vulnerable system.
1) Input passed to the "pathtoashnews" parameter in "ashnews.php" and "ashheadlines.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from external and local resources.
Examples:
http://[victim]/ashnews.php?pathtoashnews=[file]
http://[victim]/ashheadlines.php?pathtoashnews=[file]
2) Input passed to the "id" parameter in "ashnews.php" isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Examples:
http://[victim]/ashnews.php?page=showcomments&id=[code]
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 0.83. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Use another product.
