Description: A vulnerability has been reported in Elite News, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass the user authentication process.
Due to an authentication error anyone with knowledge of an administrator's username (which reportedly is disclosed by "stats.php") can perform administrative actions.
This can be achieved by inputting the administrator username in "login.php" and leaving the password field blank. When submitted a cookie will be set containing the administrative username. It is then possible to access various scripts directly and perform actions with administrative privileges.
The vulnerability has been reported in versions 1.0.0.0 to 1.0.0.3b.
Solution: Use another product or edit the source code to do proper authentication.
