Description: A vulnerability has been reported in cftp, which can be exploited by a malicious person to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error and can be exploited by returning a very long, malicious FTP banner to cftp. This will cause a buffer overflow and allow execution of arbitrary code on the client system.
Successful exploitation requires that a user using cftp visits a malicious FTP server, or a malicious person is able to intercept and manipulate traffic sent to/from client and FTP server.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 0.12. However, prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: Use another FTP client until an updated version is released.
