Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in MailSite Express, which can be exploited by malicious people to gain knowledge of sensitive information.

The vulnerability is caused due to an access control error allowing anyone (both unauthenticated people and authenticated users) to access any user's attachments. However, successful exploitation requires that the malicious person has knowledge of the path to an attachment, which is randomly generated.

Example:
http://[victim]/express/cache/DC44AEECB46AE0C029E85BBD43089833/411820066/attachment

This knowledge may eg. be gained by sniffing the traffic on a network or through other means.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 5.3.4. However, prior versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Make sure that only authenticated users can access the "express/" directory and sub directories.

However, authenticated users may still be able to access other users' attachments. If this is an unacceptable risk, then MailSite Express should not be used until an updated version or patch is available.
