Description: A vulnerability has been identified in VMware Workstation 4.0 for Linux, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to escalate their privileges on a vulnerable system.
The problem is that files are created insecurely in "/tmp", which is world-writable, if "TMPDIR" hasn't been specified. This could be exploited via a symlink attack to escalate privileges.
Solution: Update to version 4.0.1.
