Description:
Two vulnerabilities has been identified in Progress allowing local users to escalate their privileges.

1) The problem is that it is possible for users to supply the "-installdir" parameter to "_dbagent". This can be exploited to make "_dbagent" search for ".so" or ".dll" files in a different location. This allows malicious local users to execute arbitrary code with root privileges because "_dbagent" is installed setuid root.

2) Multiple executables in "/usr/dlc/bin" reads the "PATH" environment when searching for ".dll" and ".so" files. This allows malicious local users to execute arbitrary code with root privileges because many of the executables are installed setuid root.

This has been reported to affect version 9.1 to 9.1D06

Solution:
A temporary solution could be to remove the setuid bit from the binaries. However, this may have serious impact on functionality.

Do not allow untrusted users to access systems with Progress Database or Progress Database Agent installed.
