Description: An older vulnerability has been identified in Sun Solaris 1.1.x (SunOS 4.1.x), allowing malicious users to escalate their privileges.
The problem is that when sendmail has been configured with the "-oR or OR" option. Sendmail uses "popen()" in an insecure manner to return undeliverable mails. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code with root privileges.
An exploit is in the wild.
This vulnerability was first discovered in 1995, for some reason Sun has failed to properly patch this vulnerability.
Solution: We recommend that you download and install a different version of sendmail.
