Description:
A vulnerability has been identified in the LDAP implementation in Mac OS X allowing malicious people to sniff clear text passwords.

The problem occurs when Kerberos is used for user authentication and LDAP to get user data. When an error occurs there will be a protocol fallback, sending username and password in clear text rather than using Kerberos.

Solution:
Apple has written a document describing how to configure LDAP with Kerberos correctly:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107579

An update is available via "Software Update".

Changelog:
2003-06-10 Added information about availability of update.
