Description:
Microsoft has reported a vulnerability in Internet Explorer, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the code for handling Object tags in web pages. The problem is a lack of parameter checking when determining object types. This could be exploited by constructing a specially crafted HTML document and either host it on a web server or send it as an email to a user.

Successful exploitation can result in execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the user.

NOTE: According to Microsoft, Internet Explorer on Windows Server 2003 runs in "Enhanced Security Configuration" by default and therefore prevents the vulnerability from being exploited. However, if this has been disabled, the vulnerability can be exploited.
