Description: Lawson Financials relies upon a 3rd party database like Oracle, in most setups a shared username and password is used to access the database, this password is stored in a file which is world readable/writeable.
This allows users to obtain the username/password and logon directly to the database, this could allow manipulation of data stored in the database, it would be difficult to identify the malicious user as the username/password is accessible by anyone.
This is known to affect Lawson on Solaris with an Oracle database, we see no reason however, why this shouldn't affect other platforms and databases as well.
Solution: Lawson Financials can be setup to do authentication in various ways, we recommend that it is configured so that every user has an unique account, this makes auditing easier in case someone abuse their rights.
We expect Lawson Financials to be changed in future versions, so that the username/password used for the database isn't accessible by local users.
