Description:
l0om has reported a vulnerability in SuSE, allowing malicious, local users to escalate their privileges on a vulnerable system.

The problem is that the "SuSEconfig.gnome-filesystem" script creates a temporary file (/tmp/tmp.SuSEconfig.gnome-filesystem.XXXXX) with a limited number of random characters in the name. This can be exploited through a symlink attack by creating all possible combinations of the filename.

The vulnerability has been reported in SuSE 9.0.

Solution:
Do not use YaST on systems with untrusted users.
