Description: Oliver Karow and Brian Soby have identified a vulnerability in Symantec Web Security, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks against users.
The vulnerability is caused due to missing input validation in the default block pages returned to clients, because user supplied URLs aren't sanitised before being included. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML or script code in a user's browser session when a page is blocked.
The vulnerability has been reported in versions 2.5, 3.0.0, and 3.0.1 (prior to build 62).
Solution: Update to version 3.0.1 build 62.
Modify the default block pages to not include offending URLs.
