Description:
JeiAr has reported multiple vulnerabilities in PhpGedView, allowing malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks.

1) The parameters "pids", "parent_id", and "level" aren't properly verified in "timeline.php" and "placelist.php" before they are used in SQL queries in "functions_mysql.php". This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries.

2) It may be possible to cause various scripts to return error messages with the installation path by supplying invalid arguments to different parameters.

3) Multiple scripts don't verify input properly before returning it, which may allow malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

Examples:
/descendancy.php?pid=<malicious_code>
/index.php?rootid="><malicious_code>
/individual.php?pid="><malicious_code>
/login.php?url=/index.php?GEDCOM="><malicious_code>
/relationship.php?path_to_find="><malicious_code>
/relationship.php?path_to_find=0&pid1="><malicious_code>
/relationship.php?path_to_find=0&pid1=&pid2="><malicious_code>
/source.php?sid=<malicious_code>
/imageview.php?filename=<malicious_code>
/calendar.php?action=today&day=1&month=jan&year="><malicious_code>
/calendar.php?action=today&day=1&month=<malicious_code>
/calendar.php?action=today&day=<malicious_code>
/gedrecord.php?pid=<malicious_code>
/login.php?action=login&username="><malicious_code>
/login.php?&changelanguage=yes&NEWLANGUAGE=<malicious_code>
/gdbi_interface.php?action=delete&pid=<malicious_code>

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 2.65 beta5 and prior.

Solution:
Update to version 2.65.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=55456

Error reporting should either be disabled on production systems or error messages should be logged to files without being returned to the client.
