Description:
Two vulnerabilities have been identified in LFTP, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors in the "try_Netscape_proxy()" and "try_Squid_eplf()" functions. These can be exploited to cause buffer overflows and potentially compromise a user's system by including a malicious HTML document in a directory.
Successful exploitation requires that a user connects to a malicious web server with LFTP and uses the "ls" or "rels" command on the directory.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in versions 2.3.0, 2.4.9, 2.6.6, 2.6.7, 2.6.8, and 2.6.9. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution:
Update to version 2.6.10.
