Description:
A vulnerability has been identified in GKrellM, which allows malicious people to crash the service or gain system access.
The problem is that GKrellM allocates a 128 bytes large buffer but doesn't verify the size of input. This allows malicious people to cause a buffer overflow, which possibly could be exploited to execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability has been reported to affect version 2.1.10. However, other versions may be affected as well.
Solution:
Filter access to the service (by default port 19150/tcp) allowing only trusted IP addresses to connect.
