Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in GnuPG, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error in the HKP (HTTP Keyserver Protocol) interface used for retrieval of public keys from HKP keyservers. This can potentially be exploited by a malicious keyserver to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability has been reported in versions 1.2.3 and 1.3.3.

NOTE: The HKP interface is experimental and not enabled by default in the 1.2 branch.

Solution:
The vulnerability has been addressed in CVS for the 1.2 branch and in development version 1.3.4.

Secunia recommends that experimental functionality always is disabled on production systems.
